How to Copy RT Clip Art
from the CD to the Hard Drive
- Windows 95, 98, & NT -

These instructions are for copying Color WMF files from an RT Collection CD on to your hard drive in Windows 95, 98 and NT.

Modify these instructions as necessary for other file formats or to save to a different hard drive.

Use these instructions only if your CD is not marked "Version D":

1. Insert the RT Clip Art CD into the drive.

2. At the Windows Desktop, double click "My Computer".

3. In the "My Computer" window, double click the CD drive.

It will have the RT Collection name and the drive letter. For example: Santafe (E:)

4. In the CD drive window, double click the "Windows" folder.

4. In the "Windows" window, find and CLICK ONCE on the WMF_COLR folder

(highlight the WMF_COLR folder--DO NOT OPEN IT!)

5. Go to the EDIT menu, select COPY (nothing is supposed to happen just now)

6. Close all windows and be back at your desktop

7. Back at the Windows Desktop, double click "My Computer" (again)

8. In the "My Computer" window, double click your C: drive

(or the drive on which you want to copy the clip art)

9. Go to the EDIT menu, select PASTE

10. A "Copying" window and progress bar will appear

(RT clip art files are being copied from the CD on to your hard drive)

11. When finished, there will be a new WMF_COLR folder on your C: drive.

(It contains the entire set of Collection color WMF files)

12. Rename the folder to something more appropriate, such as "SantaFe, or Wildwest"

A. Find the WMF_COLR folder on your C: drive
B. Highlight it (it may already be highlighted--if not, click it once)
C. RIGHT CLICK your mouse, then select RENAME
D. Type in the new name
E. Press the ENTER key (on the keyboard) to accept the new name

13. Close all windows. You are back at the Desktop.
