No fonts are listed in the Add Fonts window -Windows
If you attempted to install the fonts as instructed, but no fonts are listed in the ADD FONTS window, even though you are in the correct folder, then it is likely that you are running an anti-virus program which is not allowing the fonts to be installed into your system. You must turn off (bypass/disable) the anti-virus protection software.
Use the documentation (printed manual or online HELP) of your anti-virus program to determine how to do this.
How to turn off (Symantec) Norton AntiVirus and McAfee VirusScan
After disabling the anti-virus software, restart the machine if necessary, then try to install the fonts again.
Re-enable your anti-virus software once the fonts have been sucessfully installed .
Font(s) show up on screen, but do not print at all, or print in Courier - Macintosh
This problem occurs:
1. when only the screen file of a Type 1 (Postscript) font is installed, but the printer file is not.
Although you see the font correctly on the screen, when you go to print, the printer file is not available to be sent to your printer, therefore the Courier font (the default for missing fonts) is used instead.
Type 1 fonts require that 2 files be placed in your FONTS folder (inside the SYSTEM FOLDER)
The screen file part of a font has a filename that ends with ".bmap". Its icon looks like a suitcase.
The printer file part of a font has a filename which is an abbreviation of the font name (for example, the printer file for the Dakota font is named DAKOTREG. The icon looks like a printer.Look in the FONTS folder inside your SYSTEM FOLDER and make sure there are 2 files for the troublesome font.
If you are using a font program, such as Suitcase, and having difficulties, check the program's documentation for assistance.
2. if your document uses more fonts than the memory of your printer can handle.
Use fewer fonts, use less complex fonts, or increase the amount of physical memory in your printer.
Some font characters don't show up or show as white squares
RT fonts are display fonts, so some of our fonts have limited character sets. Typing a key which does not correspond to an available character results in a blank space or white box. Use the Key Caps untilty (Macintosh Apple Menu) or the Character Map utility (Windows-Programs/Accessories) to see all available characters for any font.
Character kerning/spacing problems on screen and on printed pages
In older RT clip art products, the kerning (spacing between characters) in some RT fonts is different for the upper and lower case letters, even though the characters themselves are the same. Try using the other case if you experience spacing problems.
We have improved font spacing in the latest versions of our products (Version D).
RT Customers with older CD clip art products may purchase Version D upgrades for a nominal charge. Please contact RT if you would like to purchase an upgrade.
