How to Install RT Clip Art Images
In Windows XP

If your CD DOES NOT say VERSION D on it

Follow the instructions below to install RT Clip Art Images (color or black & white images) on your Windows XP machine AND your CD DOES NOT say VERSION D on it.

If your CD says VERSION D on it, click here.

Installing the image files is a manual Copy/Pate exercise.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Save/Exit/Close all programs and files. You are at the Windows XP Desktop

GETTING STARTED

1. Insert the RT Collection CD in the drive.

The machine will try to "Autoplay" the CD. Ignore this.

A message window will appear in the center of the screen and will read:

"Windows can perform the same action each tiime you insert a disk...

What do you want Windows to do?"

2. Click CANCEL

INSTALLING THE CLIP ART

1. CLICK the START button

2. CLICK MY COMPUTER

3. Under "Devices with Removable Storage", DOUBLE CLICK the CD ROM drive (usually D:)

4. DOUBLE CLICK the WINDOWS folder

5. Find and CLICK ONCE on the WMF_COLR or WMF_BW folder (color or black & white image set)

(HIGHLIGHT the folder--DO NOT OPEN IT!)

5. Go to the EDIT menu, select COPY (nothing is supposed to happen just now)

6. CLICK the START button (again)

7. CLICK MY COMPUTER (again)

8. Under "Hard Disk Drives", DOUBLE CLICK the C: drive

(or the drive on which you want to copy the clip art)

9. Go to the EDIT menu, select PASTE

10. A "Copying" window and progress bar will appear

(RT clip art files are being copied from the CD on to your hard drive)

11. When finished, there will be a new WMF_COLR or WMF_BW folder on your C: drive.

(It contains the entire set of Collection color or black & white image files)

12. RENAME the WMF_COLR or WMF_BW folder using the following names:

SF1_WMF.COL or SF1_WMF.BW (For The Santa Fe Collection (original version) or Santa Fe Collection Volume I)
SF2_WMF.COL or SF2_WMF.BW (For The Santa Fe Collection Volume II)
PLC_WMF.COL or PLC_WMF.BW (for The Plains Collection)
TPC_WMF.COL or TPC_WMF.BW (for The Petroglyph Collection)
WWC_WMF.COL or WWC_WMF,BW (for The Wild West Collection)

13. To RENAME a folder:

A. Find the folder on your C: drive
B. Highlight it (it may already be highlighted--if not, click it once-DO NOT OPEN IT)
C. RIGHT CLICK your mouse, then select RENAME
D. Type in the new name
E. Press the ENTER key (on the keyboard) to accept the new name

14. Close all windows, you are back at the desktop.

Repeat steps #1-14 to install a different set of images (i.e., black & white)

15. Begin using the images in your documents and projects.
