Year 2000 Statement

Because there is growing concern regarding the Millennium Problem, RT Computer Graphics is making this Statement available. This statement covers the following RT products: The Santa Fe Collection-volumes I and II, The Plains Collection, The Petroglyph Collection, The Wild West Collection, RTUnZip, LOOKaRT, and PROZip.

The Y2K problem is caused by computer operating systems and/or application software using 2 digits to identify the year, instead of four. Operations involving sorting and calculating (and others) based on the year can be affected. If, for example, an application treats the year 1998 as "98" and the year 2000 as "00", then a sort of files by increasing date would (incorrectly) show the year "00" as occurring prior to the year "98".

RT clip art and font files are Y2K compatible and have no known Y2K issues.

RT clip art and font files are graphic content data files which are used by other applications and within the documents created by those applications. The only occurrence of or use of dates in RT content files is in the creation and modification dates of the files themselves. The usage of RT files in a document is file name dependent, not file date dependent. RT clip art and fonts do not perform any independent functions. RT files can be used indefinitely without difficulty or risk.

The RTUNZip® utility, shipped on floppy disk versions of RT clip art products (not shipped on RT CD-ROMs), has no known Millennium issues.

The utility simply uncompresses RT clip art files by file name, then stores them on a user's hard drive. While it does test and prompt the user before overwriting files with the same name, it performs no date related functions. RT eliminated distribution of all products on floppy disks at the end of 1998. All users of RT's clip art products on floppy disks should immediately contact RT to purchase an upgrade to CD-ROM.

The LOOKaRT® viewer utility, shipped with RT clip art products on both floppy disk and CD-ROM has no known Millennium issues.

Its use is limited to viewing RT clip art files. Since it does not have the capability to modify a file in any way, it performs no date related functions.

PROZip® version 1.2 (both full and extract-only versions) has minor Y2K issues involving date listings.

PROZip version1.2 should not be used beyond December 31, 1999.
